- People allergic to formaldehyde or methyldibromo glutaronitrile (MDBGN) have an especially hard time reading ingredient labels, likely due to long chemical names and formaldehyde's many synonyms and releasers; ask a dermatologist to write down or print the specific names and synonyms to watch for.
